Playing Schedule:
Championship Round + Social
Monday 11-14-22
All matches will be played at the new Pompano Pickleball Courts with the best lights in the area.
601 S Pompano Ave, Sarasota, behind Robards Arena, off Fruitville Road.
After discussions with the Sports Development & Athletics Supervisor of the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Department, I want to share a few clarifications regarding the Sarasota Shootout Pompano Ladder.
1. The Pompano Trailhead Pickleball Courts are for public use on a first come, first served basis. We will consistently follow the posted court rules and use the provided paddle system if/when all of the courts are in use. Under no circumstances will we tell others that the courts are reserved or hinder access to the courts by any other individuals or groups. At this time the county only allows the reservation of indoor pickleball courts. Also note, personal chairs, benches, coolers, and any non-essential pickleball related items are not permitted on the court surface.
2. Participation in the ladder is free and open to all who are interested. It is not a club or organization. No payment is solicited for participation. The ladder is a method of creating matchups during open play, and as such is not an organized event, tournament, or league and will not be advertised as such.
3. The ladder system is intended to create a balance of competitive matches and fun, social recreation. Accordingly, aggressive or confrontational behavior is not acceptable and players must exhibit respect and good sportsmanship towards their partners, opposing players, and spectators.
4. All individuals play at their own risk and must take precautions to play safely at all times. Participating in matches using the ladder system does not imply liability on the part of the organizers or the county. Any player taking the court shall be deemed to have assumed all risk of injury/damage from playing or watching matches.
Choose up to seven of the 10 weeks to play. You have the option to be a sub for your bye weeks. You must play at least five weeks to be eligible for the Championship Round.
Each week players compete in groups of five players based on ladder position, rotating partners each game. Each group plays five games to 15 (win by one), and each player rests one game.
Your ladder position is determined by the percent of possible points you earn plus win bonuses. Earn a +1 point bonus for each win and an additional +2 bonus if you sweep all four games in a session. Initial ladder position for the season is seeded by prior ladder performance and/or DUPR rating.
At the end of the 10 week season, the top players compete in a Championship Round for prizes and medals. All players plus their friends and family are invited to a League Social on the same night.
We will play DUPR matches that will count toward your DUPR rating. DUPR is a modified Elo algorithm that is the most accurate global rating system for pickleball. No DUPR rating yet? No worries. Just visit https://mydupr.com/ to set up your free account.

Ladder Rules
By reserving a slot in a season of the ladder, all players agree to abide by the ladder rules. Players play at their own risk and must take precautions to play safely at all times. The ladder director reserves the right to remove a player from the ladder at any time if they do not abide by these rules.
The ladder meets weekly on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 PM at Pompano Park in Sarasota, Florida. The ladder is for players with a 4.0+ skill set. The format of play is designed so that players play mostly with others of similar skill levels. A player’s ranking on a ladder is based upon the winning percentage (the ratio of points won to total points possible) plus win bonuses (+1 point bonus for each win, +3 point bonus if you sweep all for games of a session).
Each session, players will be placed in groups of five in the order of their ranking on the ladder for match play. All players will play four doubles games in a round-robin fashion with the other players of the group. Games will be played to 15 points, win by one point. At the start of the game, players will decide who starts serving first and choice of side. It is recommended that teams change ends of the court when one side reaches eight points.
You will be scheduled to play seven out of the 10 weeks, but you may play more weeks if you serve as a sub or less weeks if you must miss a session. There is no penalty to your scoring if you miss a week, but you need to provide at least 24 hours notice so that a sub can be notified. Players who fail to show up for a reserved slot or who cancel without 24 hours notice will be placed on probation and may not be eligible for the championship round. A second infraction may result in immediate removal from the league. Players must record a score for at least 5 sessions to be eligible for the championship round.
Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times and will receive one warning for any behavior detrimental to the successful execution and enjoyment of the ladder. A second infraction will result in immediate removal from the ladder.
For the championship round, the players with a final ranking of 1-4 on the ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the gold medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.
For the championship round, the players with a final ranking of 5-8 on the ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the silver medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.
For the championship round, the players with a final ranking of 9-12 on the ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the bronze medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.
